his fingers were caught in the sticky aftermath from gnawing on my baked, sugar-coated skin. he teased me, his sinful confection, like taffy — biting me, playfully pulling and stretching my softened peel with his teeth.

Reduce your oranges and clementines to this sweet, sticky taffy to be enjoyed as a garnish for your favourite cocktails, desserts or as candies.

Simple Syrup

WHISK TOGETHER 2:1 ratio of white sugar and water in a small saucepan. ADD in cinnamon sticks, cloves and nutmeg. BOIL, reduce to medium heat and SIMMER until the consistency of melted candle wax. SET ASIDE and let COOL.

Candied Oranges

BRUSH thinly sliced oranges with simple syrup and PLACE on a parchment-paper-lined baking sheet. SET oven to 225 degrees and watch two hours worth of Netflix. SHUT off the oven and leave it closed overnight to allow the oranges to rest and come down to temperature. REMOVE from oven and use wheels, or chop into bits…
